Foreign Minister and Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has announced a 25% immediate increase in the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) stipend. Additionally, he pledged that the government of Sindh will expedite the process of providing relief to the small farmers hit by the floods. He claims that the PPP’s politics are focused on providing justice for the common person.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the registration of deserving women under the BISP through the National Database and Registration Authority on Saturday, the foreign minister said that Benazir Bhutto had laid out the idea for this revolutionary programme in her manifesto, which took into account the poverty, inflation, and economic crisis in the country. According to him, BISP was created to transform the lives of the nation’s weakest women.

Bilawal Announces 25% Increase In BISP Stipend

According to Bilawal, the government’s bureaucracy, opposition politicians, and so-called intellectuals opposed the project when it was first introduced. Before the BISP was implemented, critics used to claim that the populace was being reduced to begging. “The same money obtained through the BISP can transform the fortunes of a poor person, a child, or a woman. The amount of Rs. 1,000 may not mean much to many people.”

The FM claims that during his presidency, President Asif Ali Zardari fought the system from top to bottom to implement the BISP. By holding meetings every week in the President House, the poor women across the country received financial assistance within a year.
